MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I absolutely inhaled this mind-blowing retelling of an Irish legend, the "Children of Lir" — a well-known story of an evil stepmother who turns her stepchildren into swans. In her beautiful book, Deirdre Sullivan turns the story on its head in the most lyrical, poetic, and savage way possible. I also loved the use of the calligrams (poems arranged in various shapes), which mimic letters of Ogham, the original Irish alphabet. This book is a work of art.
