Happy Early St. Patrick's Day! ☘️
Almost five years ago, my husband and I boarded a Lingus Aer flight (their planes have a shamrock on their tails!), and our unforgettable trip began.
After landing in Dublin, we traveled all around the stunning island of Ireland for over two weeks. It was an extraordinary adventure filled with hiking, biking, canoeing, and horseback riding amidst some of the world's most breathtaking scenery. But the icing on the cake proved to be a journey of another kind. I couldn't get enough of Ireland's rich history and culture, including its enchanting folklore, breathtaking music, and exquisite food. I didn't want to leave!
I had already written Through the Veneer of Time by then, so the trip was, in part, to verify my research and correct any errors. To my shock, I discovered I got everything right.
After the trip, I snuck this personal sentiment into one of my chapters:
"As I took in the rainbow-decked hills and the sparkling ocean for the first time, a strange sensation stole over me, reaching out and pulling me in. I wandered through the stunning landscape in a daze, drinking in the fresh, misty air and the rare bursts of sunshine. Unable to shake a strange, wistful longing. It had been a sense of having brushed with something once known, but forever changed and lost."
Until the next story,
Vera
